Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University (RMLAU), established on March 4, 1975, by the Uttar Pradesh government as an affiliating institution in Ayodhya, was renamed in 1993-94 to honor the socialist icon Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia.
